Hosted BackStopp is a securely hosted solution so there is no expensive server side software or databases to install or maintain. Should your device become lost or stolen simply logon to the BackStopp web console at www.BackStoppUSA.com

GSM BackStopp can utilize the mobile GSM network to decommission your lost or stolen devices. This means BackStopp can locate and decommission data on your stolen laptop even if it is never connected to the internet. In GSM mode the decommission instruction is immediately sent to the stolen laptop.

When booted, the GSM card intercepts the decommission instruction and securely deletes the specified data on the laptop. All this happens before the machine is logged on and is invisible to the user. BackStopp’s GSM functionality can be utilized on laptops with built-in GSM chips or through 3G USB Modems.

Internet BackStopp can be used on any laptop which accesses the internet so no new hardware is required. When utilizing the internet the Backstopp client informs the Backstopp servers that it is available and checks for decommission instruction. If there is a decommission instruction, Backstopp securely deletes all specified data on that machine. This can be carried out before the computer is logged on.

RFID / WiFi integration Backstopp continuously monitors all laptop’s movements throughout an organization’s premises. If a device enters an unauthorized zone Backstopp can either automatically issue a data delete instruction to the device or send an SMS warning to the legitimate user and/or security staff to quickly alert them to the potential security breach.

Volume encryption Backstopp’s integrated volume encryption functionality ensures that even the smartest thieves will find your device a tough nut to crack. Our volume encryption functionality means that any thief who attempts to deactivate the Backstopp communication channels or remove the hard disk will find nothing more than highly encrypted data.

Multiple form factors BackStopp spans all your devices from server to mobile phone. Manage all of your servers. Desktops, Laptops, Netbooks, PDAs and mobile phones from one single console.

Secure delete Erasing data using the operating system API is not a sufficient defense against identify theft or corporate sabotage professionals. Operating systems merely mark the appropriate parts of the disk as free in the file allocation table leaving the actual data on the disk. BackStopp uses file deletion patterns detailed in the US Department of Defense’s National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (5220-22.M) ensuring decommission.

Culprit identification BackStopp’s unique culprit identification capability utilizes front facing cameras that are integrated into many laptop lids. A photo possibility identifying the culprit is included in the BackStopp Decommission report. Coupled with GSM triangulation and positioning Backstopp provides powerful tools for law enforcement agencies to retrieve the property, apprehend the thief and achieve a successful prosecution.
